Kennet at Saltaire Festival

Successful visit to Saltaire

Kennet arrived in Saltaire on Friday afternoon 17th September in preparation for opening to the public over the weekend.

Saturday saw an early start to put up the Society’s gazebo and open up in readiness for the public. We also took the opportunity to have more video “footage” taken of the preparations and the new displays in the hold to edit into our new video “A Voyage of Discovery”.

The weather was glorious and there was a tremendous amount of people in Saltaire with a lot of interest in Kennet. We had over 250 visitors, bearing in mind that we limited the numbers inside Kennet to a max of 15 including volunteers due to Corvid.

On Sunday the weather changed and there were less people about. However our visitor numbers gradually increased over the day. As a result there were virtually the same number of visitors as on the Saturday.

After a very successful weekend at Saltaire, Kennet returned to Greenberfield on Tuesday evening after 2 long days for the crew.

Many thanks to the volunteers who made it possible for Kennet to attend the Saltaire Festival.
