Kennet moving

1st boat through Eshton Lock after major repairs

Heading to Keighley (Historic) Transport Festival

Heritage work boat Kennet is the first boat to travel through Eshton Lock (no 31) after major repairs. The newly repaired lock opened on 25th May following a £2million repair programme undertaken by Canal & River Trust. Kennet is making its way along the canal, to join the In Motion – Keighley Transport Festival 2022. This will take place 2-3 June, and is supported by the Trust.

Kennet will be moored at the Stockbridge Wharf as part of the InMotion Keighley Transport Festival. Open to the public from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June . For this year we have new displays in the hold.

The free family festival covers all aspects of transport. Classic cars, buses, steam trains, motorbikes and more, not forgetting Kennet representing the era of canal transport. There is also street theatre, music, food and activities with a circular free shuttle bus between the many sites. Download the map leaflet here…

We would very much like to welcome you aboard Kennet as the festival was originally initiated by members of the Society. It is also our first major opening of the year, prior to moving on to Bingley and Leeds.
