During Kennet’s journey from Bingley to Skipton last month, after being open in Shipley and Bingley a time lapse video was taken to give a “captains eye view”.
15th July, 2022 saw the 100th Anniversary of the Closure of the Bradford Canal when the last commercial boat travelled down the Canal to Shipley.
The talk on Sunday 29th May is about the Local History of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. It forms part of the build-up to the InMotion Keighley Transport Festival 2022 – 2nd & 3rd June. It looks at the development of the Canal as a critical mode of transport locally and regionally.

The Society’s attendance at the Saltaire Festival last September provided the first opportunity to open Kennet to the public for two years. It also gave us the opportunity to complete the filming of our ‘lockdown video’ A Voyage of Discovery.

Audiences of the popular TV Programme All Creatures Great and Small will have noticed an appearance by Kennet .
The Lancashire and Cumbria Branch of the Inland Waterways Association has announced its forthcoming programme of meetings. Alongside their regular live meetings there will be four zoom meetings. Two of these will be given by the Leeds & Liverpool Canal Society President, Mike Clarke.
Kennet arrived in Saltaire on Friday afternoon 17th September in preparation for opening to the public over the weekend.
